MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
GET MORE CONNECTED WITH YOUR CHURCH FAMILY!
There are many ministry opportunities for members! We encourage you to join in and become involved in the life of our church family. Please contact the church office or Pastor Julie with your interests.
Worship
-
Lead a “Children’s Time” during worship.

Share special music during worship. Contact the Church Organist.

Volunteer as an usher, greeter, or liturgist for a worship service.

Volunteer as an elevator operator during Church services and events.
-
Join the Chancel Choir for special choir presentations at Easter or Christmas.
-
Provide flowers from your gardens to beautify our worship services. A variety of vases are available or you may bring your own container. You will be responsible for arranging the bouquet and then removing them.

Help set up and take down the live Christmas tree; help decorate and take down Christmas decorations.
Welcoming

Help new members feel welcome, introduce them to other members, invite them to fellowship coffee, and talk to them about becoming a part of the ministries of First Presbyterian Church.

A welcome package of popcorn to any visitor to our church is part of the "Popcorn Ministry.” Members may buy also buy popcorn packets ($1, or $3 for 4 packets) with proceeds going to mission projects. Give as gifts to encourage Christian activity!
Member Care
-
Provide support through prayer for individuals during difficult times and prayers of thanks during joyful times by becoming a member of the e-mailed Prayer Chain.

Be an ambassador of the church comforting members during hospitalizations or extended home recovery.

Bake meals to be delivered to members in need by our Deacon’s Meal Ministry.

Along with our Deacon ministry, provide a connection to the church by sending cards in times of illness, celebration, or bereavement.

Take bulletins and worship recordings out to our homebound members for a short visit, giving them a chance to remain connected with church.

Visit and develop a relationship with a homebound or elderly member.
-
Provide assistance to those who need transportation to Sunday services or special events.

Contribute loose change to “Noisy Can offerings” on 5th Sundays; this offering goes to our Congregational Care Fund
Kolach Ministry ( Click for our Kolach Kamp page.)
Help carry on the Czech tradition of our church being part of the team that bakes kolaches for special church events, holidays and by taking orders to raise funds for the church.

Kolach Kare - Each time a baking is held, plates of delicious kolaches are sent out to members and friends who are homebound or have had recent illness or hospitalization.

Kolach Kamp - several times a year a Kolach Kamp is held to teach the art of baking this delicate pastry. Cost is $10.00 for dough and fillings, plus you'll receive a booklet of our recipes.
Fellowship
-
Help set up & clean up for coffee fellowship after worship, for special events, potlucks and luncheons

Bake treats for coffee hour

Cook food for funeral luncheons and potlucks

Serve as a volunteer on the Fellowship Committee
Children and Youth
-
Help organize weekly helpers to watch over and entertain our wee ones during worship. Or volunteer to be a nursery helper.

Volunteer as a Sunday School teacher, substitute teacher or helper.

Help keep the activity/drawing clipboards organized and filled with new activities each week for children who become restless during worship.

Help sew costumes for pageant presentations.

Volunteer to help with Vacation Bible School in June.

Volunteer as a mentor to a confirmation youth.

Serve as a chaperone on a special youth event.

Contribute food or bakery to Youth fund-raising projects.
Food Bank
-
Bring grocery items every 1st Sunday of the month for the Linn Community Food Bank

Volunteer to take collected food to the food bank
Church Property
-
Help with grounds and building maintenance on Church Work Day (cleaning gutters, raking leaves, weeding, cleaning in the church, painting, washing windows, etc.).

Volunteer to serve on the Property Committee.
Other Opportunities

Help with newsletter or other large mailings.

Assist with computer technology support for the church office.

Help make posters and put up bulletin boards.

Take photos or videos of church events.

Assist with all types of publicity for worship and special events (print, TV, radio, etc.)
